fixed-rate mortgages: Home loans in which the interest rate stays the same through the life of the loan.

forged: Faked or falsely written with the intent to defraud.

good faith money: See earnest money.

grift: See scam.

grifter: A person who makes a living performing cons.

hook: An enticement designed to lure a victim into a scam.

identity fraud: Intentionally assuming another person's identity (including his social security number) to illegally gain property, money or anything of value. Fraud is a criminal act.

identity theft: Illegally using someone else’s identity to illegally obtain something of value.

Internet fraud: Any type of fraud that primarily uses the internet as the means of operation.
